Have the system ask if you are sure you want to cancel or exit an invoice without saving.

I was doing a large invoice (3 pages) with lots of information that needs to be typed, and I accidently hit the cancel button and it closed. There should be a warning for when you accidently hit a button like close without saving or cancel to ensure that is exactly what you want to do.
