I was working with a client recently and we were entering a a series of journal entries. The client had a bunch of duplicate and similar accounts and the only way we could confirm the correct account was by checking the balance. Unfortunately when you pick an account in the transaction or g.j screens it doesn't show you the balance of the account beside the account name and description - so we had to exit, go to the chart of accounts, and repeat each time we weren't sure of something, which was really time consuming. We could have saved a ton of time if we had the current balances there in that window, like on the desktop. I've also had about a dozen people request this to date as well and so I am submitting this suggestion on behalf of them.
I agree with this suggestion, but would also include that I miss that the accounts are not organized with different indent levels indicating sub accounts like the analyst version was
